Self-Employed Labour Worker Terms
Note; All labour worker terms can be found on the side of the office building.
Labour Worker Summery:
All labour work is offered on a self-employment basis, under the following terms laid out below. If you are offered labour work on behalf of Miller Marquee Ltd, you are required to follow the basic guidance and rules of the company set out below, at all times.
All labour workers are required to carry public liability insurance and personal liability insurance at all time. All injuries related to labour work undertaken are to be claimed by the labour workers insurance only. All labour workers are given time limits to complete each element of marquee installations and takedowns. If this timing is not achieved, the labour worker(s) will be required to provide a statement as to why, and pay may be deducted from the labour worker(s). All vehicles must be kept clean and presentable at all times. All labour workers are responsible for checking loading lists and quality checks. If items are forgotten or not loaded correctly, all delays and costs associated with this will be deducted from all labour workers equally. All labour workers are entitled to claim the following expenses when authorized- fuel, vehicle insurance and any materials which have been authorized to purchase. No other expenses can be claimed at any time.
Dress Code:
All labour workers are require to wear clean and smart chino trousers or shorts, plain black t-shirt or polo shirt and black jumper or jacket during working hours. If company tops are provided, these must be warn at all times and when specifically requested. Steel toe cap boots are also required to be warn at all times. If high-vis jackets and hard hats/ safety protection is supplied for certain tasks, this must be warn at all times. Labour workers are not permitted to wear any items of clothing in addition to the above, at any time, unless this has been authorized by the company Managing Director.
Onsite Resposibilities:
All labour workers are required to treat equipment with care and attention. This includes placing equipment back in the places identified for each item, ensuring each item is cleared, tested and prepared for the next use. All rubbish is removed from vehicles and storage sites and placed in the correct waste bins on site or allocated waste sites. All equipment should be stacked, and transported neatly and safely at all times. All labour workers are responsible for checking loading lists and quality checks. If items are forgotten or not loaded correctly, all delays and costs associated with this will be deducted from all labour workers equally.
Offsite Responsibilities:
When driving to an offsite location, all labour worker must assist the diver with navigation and directions. Any vehicle maneuvers such as parking, or accessing tight locations require all staff to exit the vehicle and assist the driver. All labour workers are liable for vehicle damages if they fail to assist the driver at all times during maneuvers. All drivers are also responsible for all vehicle damage caused when in use and will be charged for this.
All labour workers are required to maintain the company dress code at all times and ensure equipment is staked safely and neatly at all times. It is the labour workers responsibility to ensure they are wearing all the correct PPE for the task at hand. All labour workers are required to report directly to the Managing Director for instructions and no direct contact with clients is permitted. Labour workers are forbidden to ask for/ receive contact details from clients and this will result in instant termination.
Payment Terms:
At the end of each calendar month, labour workers are required to submit their hours so these can be checked and confirmed for payment. Any deductions for vehicle damages or broken equipment will be deducted from any amounts owed. All logged hours are checked and payments are processed within 30 working days from the start of the month. This can sometimes take longer during busy seasonal periods from May - October. If hours are submitted 10 days after the start of the month, this will automatically be carried over to the next month. All payments take up to 5 working days to clear once processed.
Notice & Termination:
All labour workers are required to give 4 weeks notice. If a labour worker does not complete their notice period and/ or leave before the notice period has ended, they will be liable for the costs of replacement staff and Miller Marquees reserves the right to withhold payment for incomplete work. The definition (completed work) relates to any marquees installed and taken down by the labour worker. Miller Marquees reserves the right to terminate labour workers at any time if they do not meet the terms and standards laid out in our terms.
Holiday Requests:
All holiday requests must be provided 30 days in advance and a total of 14 days (or half days) can be taken as holiday during May - October for each labour worker.
Working Hours:
All working days start at 7am unless an alternative time is provided. All labour workers are required to work up to 50 hours minimum per week (Monday - Friday). More hours may be required during busy periods and expected to be worked. All labour workers are responsible for sufficient rest between working days. If labour workers exceed 14 hour days, they are entitled to a maximum of £10 each per meal (for dinner). This is paid for by the labour workers and claimed at the end of each working month. Satisfactory receipts are required for such expenses.
Alcohol & Drugs:
If any labour workers are found consuming alcohol or drugs during working hours, this will be an instant termination and the labour worker will be escorted offsite and will be responsible for their own transport from any offsite location.
Breaks & Attendance:
If labour worker arrive late, they are required to submit the actual time of arrival. Failing to provide an accurate time may lead to deductions in pay and termination if more than one occasion. CCTV is in operation for security purposes and this also allows Miller Marquees to track timings of labour workers.
